Racquetball family gathered at the USA Racquetball National Indoor Championships, May 14-18, 2025, where 177 athletes competed at Bay Club Pleasanton in Pleasanton, California, for the coveted title of National Champion in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles divisions.

A companion article in the June 2025 issue of Serving Up the News, entitled USA Racquetball 2025 National Indoor Championships: In the Record Books, provides coverage of the overall event.

Here, though, let’s take a closer look at one of the foremost news items emerging from Pleasanton, and that’s the newly crowned 2025-2026 U.S. National Adult Team!

U.S. Team Qualifying

As identified in the U.S. National Racquetball Team Policies, Procedures, and Protocols Handbook,  Men’s and Women’s Singles Finalists and Semifinalists (1st-4th place) and Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles Finalists (1st and 2nd place teams) secure positions on the 2025-2026 U.S. National Adult Team, effective June 1, 2025.

Rally scoring, adopted by the International Racquetball Federation in 2022, was used: Best 3 of 5 games to 11 points, win by 2. The Gearbox Sleek Black ball was used for these Team Qualifying Divisions.

The Mixed Doubles final took place on Thursday, with the Men’s and Women’s Doubles finals on Saturday and the Men’s and Women’s Singles finals on Sunday.

The World Games 2025

Eyes are now on the next big event on the World stage, and that’s the 2025 World Games to be competed in Chengdu, China, August 13-17, 2025.  https://www.theworldgames2025.com/en/

The International Racquetball Federation (IRF) administrates the participation of Racquetball at The World Games (TWG). Each of the sixteen qualifying countries will send one male and one female athlete to compete in single elimination Singles as well as to team up in Mixed Doubles.

Countries representing areas of the world (Asia, Europe, and the Americas) were given the latitude by the IRF to develop their own criteria to select their two athletes.

For the United States of America, the U.S. Team Committee recommended and the USA Racquetball Board of Directors approved that the right of first refusal to compete at TWG Chengdu would be awarded to the #1 Men’s and #1 Women’s Singles Champions at the National Indoor Championships in Pleasanton, California, May 14-18, 2025, and that those two athletes would also compete as mixed doubles partners.

On Sunday, May 18, Daniel De La Rosa and Naomi Ros became the winners of the Men’s and Women’s Singles finals. In the several days that followed, Naomi Ros confirmed her desire to compete at TWG. However, Daniel De La Rosa notified USA Racquetball that he would not be able to make it to China. Following the process outlined in the U.S. Team Handbook, the runner-up in Men’s Singles, Jake Bredenbeck, was offered the opportunity to compete, and he accepted.

Therefore, the official U.S. Delegation to The World Games 2025 will be comprised of Jake Bredenbeck and Naomi Ros, accompanied by and coached by U.S. Team Head Coach Pablo Fajre.
