USA Racquetball Announces 2024 Scholarship Recipients

USA Racquetball is proud to announce the recipients of our 2024 USA Racquetball Scholarships. Since the inception of the scholarship in 1990, over $60,000 has been awarded to more than 100 individuals.

Thank you to everyone who applied for the 2024 USA Racquetball Scholarship.  This year’s pool of applicants was amazing and it was extremely challenging to narrow the field down.

The 2024 USA Racquetball Scholarship recipients include: Naomi Ros (San Antonio, TX), Olivia Carpenter (Saint Louis, MO), Varsha Karumuru (Portland, OR), Ella Boaz (Saint Louis, MO), & Cole Sendrey (Frisco, TX).

Ella Boaz (Saint Louis, MO) is a recent graduate of Lindbergh High School and plans to attend the University of Missouri. She is very excited about joining the Mizzou Club Racquetball Team. Ella Maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career and was a part of the National Honors Society her senior year. She also completed Missouri’s A plus program. Ella’s Racquetball accomplishments include 2023 MOHSRA Top Seed Champion (Girls Varsity #1 Seed), 2023 MOHSRA Winter Rollout Champion (Girls Varsity #1 Seed), and 2023 High School All-American Athlete.

Olivia Carpenter (Saint Louis, MO) is a recent graduate of Cor Jesu high school and plans to study computer science at MIT this fall. Olivia received the high honor of National Merit Commended Student (recognition for PSAT score within top 3-4% of United States). She also scored a perfect score on her ACT. From 10th-12th grade Olivia was a part of the National Honors Society and volunteered at various local organizations & school fundraisers. Olivia also holds her school record for the discus & javelin throws. Some of her racquetball accomplishments include MOHSRA sportsmanship award, & Gold #5 girls’ singles winner at High School Nationals.

Varsha Karumuru (Portland, OR) is a recent graduate of Sunset High School where she maintained above a 4.0 GPA and was also involved in the school’s student government. Varsha also volunteered at the American Cancer Society for almost two years. Varsha plans to study computer engineering. Some of her Racquetball accomplishments include 2023 Girls #2 seed Bronze Medalist, and She was a part of the 2023 ORHSRL State Champion Girls Team.

Naomi Ros (San Antonio, TX) is a recent high school graduate of Macarthur High School, where she maintained a high A grade point average. Naomi is passionate about her own clothing brand Naomi by hand. While trying to start her own business, she is a full-time player on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT). Naomi is currently enrolled at Incarnate Word University. Here racquetball accomplishments include 2023 junior female athlete of the year, 2 gold medals at junior worlds, 2023 high school national champion, women's open singles champion at National Indoor.

Cole Sendrey (Frisco, TX) is a recent high school graduate, who graduated on the High A honor roll. Cole was also a member of the National Honors society. Cole also gave back to his community by volunteering for Bed Start, they provide furniture to low-income households. He also was a part of Miracle League which is an organization who provides sporting activities to kids with disabilities. Some of Cole’s accomplishments inside of racquetball include; 3x National Champion, 3x Junior Team Member, 2023 Junior Team Athlete of the Year, 2x Bronze 1x Silver at Junior Worlds, & 35+ pro/open singles titles.
