Rocketball: Not a Typo, Definitely Exciting!

Okay, Racquetball Family! Here’s a chance to do a little to make a BIG difference for racquetball.

Northern California screenwriter/director Alex Glaros has written a racquetball-related movie script and it is now time to crowdfund to GET IT MADE into an independent feature film entitled “Rocketball.” USA Racquetball has generously volunteered to let us publicize the project via the Serving Up the News newsletter.

A racquetball-related film is in the works! One of the goals of the film is to promote the sport of racquetball. I need your help to make it happen. I, Alex Glaros, am a writer/director from Northern California (Winters) and I wrote the script. After submitting it to various screenwriting film festivals, I am now asking for help from the racquetball community to get the film made and shown to the masses. My plan is to shoot the movie near my home, plus integrate high-quality video generously donated by the IRT men’s pro tour. Cindy Tilbury from Southern California is helping coordinate some of the crowdfunding and promotion, too. 

This movie will never happen unless I get some seed money within the next 30 days.  My team has until March 22, 2023, at 8:00 pm Pacific Time to determine if the film generates enough interest in the racquetball community and independent film fans.  If you love racquetball, you’ll want to be one of the trailblazers of this adventure. I am asking you to pledge your level of interest, with contribution as low as $4.00—the price of a screening when the film is final. Higher levels of commitment are available, with greater rewards (your name in the credits, or acting as an extra, for example). If your budget is tight, your best option is to pay for pre-rental of the film. Then simply watch it at no further cost when it comes out.

Your card will not be charged for 30 days. If audience commitment is achieved, the funds you pledge will be released to the production group to enable film creation. If the funding goal is not met, pledges will be refunded. You will be notified that filming will commence, with regular updates and an invite to showings. 

The USA Racquetball Board of Directors, committees, pro tours, and I will try to integrate the film with USA Racquetball, racquetball groups, and industry marketing so that viewers new to racquetball can act on their interest. I want to create a path to help viewers find clubs, find racquetball ambassadors, and get introduced to our favorite sport. If interest is high, more films will be considered for future production.
