Committee Updates
Þ Finance Committee (Steve Czarnecki)
Financial performance for the first five months of the year is very much in line with the budget. The second-draw of the Payroll Protection Plan obtained in early 2021 is a positive that was not budgeted. For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, both membership and sanctioning fee revenue in the month of May exceeded the budgeted amounts. Primary unknowns for the remainder of the year include the performance of the USAR National Junior Championships and U.S. Team Qualifying event, the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN, and any costs associated with international competitions, which are yet to be determined.
Þ Legislative Committee (Cheryl Kirk and Mike Wedel)
Kirk and Wedel presented bylaws revisions and strategic planning work to the Board for ratification, to meet the June 30, 2021, due date for amendments to USAR materials and policies relative to USOPC requirements.
Board Approvals on Bylaws Revisions per USOPC Consultative Review (Cheryl Kirk)
The Board reviewed previously provided information from the committee on proposed bylaws changes and voted on six motions made by Board members. These votes brought updated content to Articles V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX, plus formatting adjustments. All recommended revisions were ratified by the Board and became effective immediately.
Strategic Plan for USOPC Compliance (Mike Wedel)
Interim strategic planning work was provided and approved by the Board.
As of this 6/28/21 meeting, this concluded the delivery and ratification of the USOPC compliance points addressed by the Legislative Committee and the USAR Staff and presented to the USAR Board of Directors in May/June 2021. The deadline of June 30, 2021, was met.
IRF and PARC Votes (Cheryl Kirk)
In upcoming International Racquetball Federation (IRF) and Pan American Racquetball Confederation (PARC) elections later this year/early into next year, two individuals who are U.S. citizens and members in good standing of USA Racquetball wish to run for Board of Directors positions. For any Board position with either organization, the process requires candidacy approval by the Board of the National Federation in the country in which individuals are citizens. The Board approved the candidacies of both individuals.
Next Meeting: July 26, 2021
