Many of you have recently seen the press release announcing the location of the 2021 USA Racquetball National Championships Festival Presented by Penn, and there will be more information coming out frequently. This event, slated for St. Louis, comes after a very long period of event cancellations and postponements. The past year and much of the beginning parts of this year have seen unprecedented repercussions for all sports across the board.

This event is important for our sport for many reasons. Above all, it will serve as a meaningful return-to-play celebration for our Racquetball family. Beginning the year with back-to-back announcements for the postponement of 2021 Doubles as well as the cancellation of 2021 High Schools and Intercollegiates left many in the Racquetball community without many options for competitive play. Hosting a large, 10-day USAR National Championships Festival in June, combining some of the postponed events, is a thinking-out-of-the-box experiment that fits well into this most unusual of years.

Seeing several states already reaching their goals of 70% - 90% vaccination rates for senior citizens, essential employees, and others on phases 1a and 1b, we are excited at the prospects of mid-year success. We will be closely monitoring local regulations and will follow all precautions as indicated to make sure the event can be enjoyed by as much of our community as possible.

The 2021 National Championships Festival will see the combination of the 2021 National Doubles, National Singles, and National Juniors. The event is designed to be staggered so that athletes can choose the events in which they would like to compete and will not be compelled to stay for the duration of the Festival unless they choose to do so. **See the update below this article for more!**

The Festival will consist of many traditional functions as well as fun activities for attendees and their families. It will host the 2021 Hall of Fame Inductions, Annual Awards Ceremonies, and Athlete Parties as well as several live band performances and sport demos. There will also be negotiated discounts throughout the city offered to Festival attendees. Many of these activities will occur in and around the Athlete Village located at Westport Plaza.

We are so excited to host this event for the Racquetball community. There are still many decisions that must be made in the coming months. From now until it’s time to head toward St. Louis, information will be widely forwarded on the USAR website and social media as it becomes available!
