Election Results: USA Racquetball Board of Directors Welcomes New Members

The USA Racquetball Election Committee has announced the results of the Board of Directors election that concluded on March 31, 2026.

Congratulations to newly elected members Juan Carlos Canals and Alexxander Purcell who will begin their two-year terms at the USA Racquetball Board of Directors Annual Meeting in mid-May.

Two seats were available in this election cycle. The communication process began in mid-October 2025 with a notification outlining the process, requirements, and deadlines on the USA Racquetball website and via email to members. The Election Committee was pleased to have six candidates submit applications for Board service. The committee interviewed the candidates and developed a recommended slate that was presented to the Board for final approval in late November. The slate was publicized in January 2026. General membership voting commenced March 1, 2026, and concluded March 31, 2026.

In their submitted statements of interest, each new Board member articulated their decision to throw their hats into the ring:

“I love racquetball and want to help it grow. It’s a sport that’s given me a lot—great friendships, competition, and a way to stay active—and I’d like to give something back. Serving on the USA Racquetball Board feels like a great way to do that. In my day job, I work in strategic relationship management, which basically means I help people and organizations connect and work together toward shared goals. I think that experience could be useful in helping racquetball reach more players, build stronger partnerships, and create more opportunities for growth.” -- Juan Carlos Canals

“Racquetball has been a central part of my life for many years—not only as a player, but as someone committed to building programs, strengthening communities, and ensuring the sport’s future. My passion lies in expanding opportunities for players of all ages and supporting the next generation of athletes. My background in racquetball and business gives me a strong perspective on how to balance tradition with innovation. My goal is to help USA Racquetball strengthen local programs, raise national visibility, and create sustainable growth for the sport.” -- Alexxander Purcell

USA Racquetball's gratitude goes to Juan and Alexxander for their willingness to support USA Racquetball, the sport, and its players.

Warm thanks go to departing Board member Ro-el Cordero for his Board service over the past two years.

We invite and encourage USA Racquetball members to consider Board service when the next cycle commences early in the fall. Another way to become involved is to join a committee of interest.
