How Did You Spend Your 2024 WorldWide Racquetball Day?
by Cindy Tilbury and the USA Racquetball Membership Committee Members
Another Worldwide Racquetball Day is in the books! Players all over the world spent September 7th and 8th playing, learning, celebrating, enjoying racquetball and the friendship of all the players that share our passion.
In the USA, there were about 500 racquetball enthusiasts participating, all around the country. Many of these were tournaments and can be found on R2Sports.com. We had a LOT of fun in Canoga Park, California, where we livestreamed the best matches on Facebook on the NationalMastersRB page. Congratulations to all the winners! https://www.r2sports.com/r2sports-event-search.asp?searchNow=YES&showGrouping=0
Of course, there were more events that were informal get-togethers and not so competitive. Some new players were introduced to the game, and others of us have been playing almost half a century.
Special shoutout to María Paz Muñoz in Cuenca, Ecuador, who had an event, and Shoji Mochino and friends, who celebrated in Tokyo, Japan. Miguel Quilodran had 45 players in Santiago, Chile, too.
I also want to highlight the fun event that Carrie Reitmeier hosted at the Genesis Health Club in Omaha, Nebraska. Carrie advertised her social event for all ages with a flyer sent to all regional players and club members. Instead of organizing a round-robin tournament, Carrie had everyone pick a playing card. All hearts went to one court, all clubs to another, etc. They played and then switched it up. Prizes and snacks were plentiful, and they even taught an 8-year-old how to play. Check out all the photos.
We would love to see your photos and videos from September 7! Send them to Jonathan Greenberg at USA Racquetball and we will put them in a future Serving Up the News. jonathan@usaracquetball.com
Thank you to all the players worldwide who are as passionate about racquetball as we are. It was truly a day of unity and comradery.
