USA Racquetball Names Athletes for 2023 Pan American Games
Colorado Springs, CO – Today USA Racquetball announced the athletes from the roster of the 2023-2024 U.S. Adult National Racquetball Team who will represent the United States at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, this October.
Three men’s and two women’s positions were earned by the United States at the Pan American Racquetball Championships in Guatemala City in April 2023.
U.S. Team Qualifying results from the USA Racquetball National Singles & Doubles Championships (Tempe/February 2023) and USAR National Adult Team Singles Qualifying (Lombard/May 2023) were used to fill the five positions.
Each of the five athletes named to the Pan American Games delegation are National Champions in one or more divisions.
U.S. Men’s Team
Daniel De La Rosa (San Antonio, Texas) won Men’s Singles as well as Men’s Doubles with Alejandro Landa.
Adam Manilla (San Jose, California) won Mixed Doubles with Erika Manilla and placed second in Men’s Singles.
Alejandro Landa (El Paso, Texas) won Men’s Doubles with Daniel De La Rosa.
U.S. Women’s Team
Erika Manilla (Centennial, Colorado) triple qualified in winning Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles with Michelle Key, and Mixed Doubles with Adam Manilla.
Michelle Key (Gilbert, Arizona) won Women’s Doubles with Erika Manilla. Michelle will also be competing in the #2 Women’s Singles position in Santiago.
These five U.S. Team athletes will compete along with 43 men and women representing nine other countries, October 21-26, at the Centro Deportivo de las Raquetas in Santiago.
The format at the Pan American Games will be an Individual competition in the first phase (Singles/Doubles/Mixed Doubles). The second part of the competition will be separate Men’s and Women’s Team competitions.
Head Coach Pablo Fajre (Tracy, California), Assistant Coach Jen Meyer (Fruita, Colorado), and Athletic Trainer Rodger Fleming (Macon, Georgia) will support the U.S. Team athletes at the Pan American Games as they strive to bring home gold for the USA!
