What a fun time was had at the first Stratton Woods Park tournament in Herndon, VA! On the Friday before there were only 14 folks signed up and after numerous texts/calls over the weekend we maxed out to 43 by Monday morning!!!

Friday night started with the 50+ division w/Ezequiel & Roger Subieta going undefeated and taking 1st place and Allen Small & Suresh Vemulapalli taking 2nd. Then we went to the 1Wall courts for the King event where there were 20 players!...and that was so much fun to watch. They played till 10:15p and we even had to shorten the games to 11 because of time constraints. The last four players (Sebastian Franco, Suresh, Aleti Ashok Reddy & Paul Newman) had to stop and play the last game Saturday morning with Suresh, Ashok & Paul coming out 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

Saturday began with the men’s Elites (7 teams) and Leland Rupp/Jamie Sparks took 1st place and Frank McCabe/Sergio Morales taking 2nd. Then pick-out-of-a-hat Paddleball (5 teams) started and there were some great games to watch. Suresh/Sebastian went undefeated and took 1st place, Amie Brewer/Andy Gomer came in 2nd place and Troy Moore/Angel Rosa took 3rd.

Then the Women’s division (4 teams) began w/Paola & Claudia Nunez and Amie/Carrie Hoeft going head-to-head in the final with the sisters taking 1st place and Amie/Carrie taking 2nd. And then of course the rain came later on around 5p so the Men's Pro/Open division wasn't able to play the final match and due to time constraints with both teams on Sunday, we had to call it a tie. We also had to cancel the Mixed division ☹ but not after Jamie & Christine Torres winning their first game! #Boom

A ton of thank yous to all that came out to support especially coming from Richmond (The Torres Family), VA Beach (Carrie) and Maryland (Slemo & Troy Warigon, Ben Bleyer, Chris Ruano, Sterling Poteat III, Sebastian Franco, Paul Newman, Bill Milbach and the newcomers Orlando & Mario Huyke), AND of course Team SW that is always there to help/support in any way. Last but not least, thanks again to The Gomer Group for their continued support.

Kudos to all the winners…you fought hard and played your hearts out. I hope you had as much fun playing/watching as I did hosting you all! 😊
