USA Racquetball Hall of Fame 2027 Class Nomination Solicitation

It is time to start working on nominations for the USAR Hall of Fame. Nominations are due to USA Racquetball by September 15th of each year, so it is time to start putting them together for the 2027 Class. Throughout the year we periodically see posts or comments saying, "I can't believe So-and-So isn't in the Hall of Fame," or, "So-and-So deserves to be in the Hall of Fame."  Well, often times these deserving candidates aren't yet in the Hall because they have not yet been properly nominated, or that someone has not taken the lead in submitting the form and compiling the information.

So, now is the time to act; if you feel someone is due a nomination, take the lead on completing and submitting their form.

There are five primary categories (each with specific criteria) for nominations:

Professional Players: Must have been retired for three years.

Contributors: Individuals who have made a significant impact on the sport of Racquetball on a National level.

Amateur Open Player: Outstanding performance on National and/or International levels.

Amateur Age Player: Outstanding performance in Age Group 40+ competitions at the National level.

Outdoor Player: Outstanding performance in the Outdoor major events over time. (Note: this is separate from the WOR Hall of Fame.)

Last year, we elected Rhonda Rajsich as a professional player, and Scott Winters as a contributor.

The Hall of Fame is quite selective; there are only 80 people throughout the entire history of our sport who have been elected.

28 Pro players, 25 Amateur players, 26 contributors, and 1 Outdoor player (Brian Hawkes).

Voting is limited each year too: no matter how many nominations we get, only a handful get to be voted upon each year, so a "No" vote on a candidate in a given year does not preclude them from being submitted and possibly inducted in a subsequent year.  Previously submitted candidates absolutely may be re-submitted: Candidates may be nominated for up to three times in a five-year period, but then must wait at least five years from the last nomination before being nominated for the same category.  However, if you're resubmitting someone, they have to be officially resubmitted for consideration. Self-Nominations are accepted.  Even though it is the "USA" Racquetball hall of fame, we do recognize Canadians and other nationality players.

Lastly: no matter how deserving your candidate may be, if you don't follow the process and use our forms in your submission, we cannot consider it.

Let's start organizing here for deserving candidates, identify people taking the lead on writing up the nominations, and make for a great class of 2027.

Properly completed nominations must be submitted and received by September 15th either by US Mail to the address below or via email to the USAR communications office here: communications@usaracquetball.com. It is also helpful to email directly to the Hall of Fame chairperson Todd Boss tboss@bossconsulting.com. If you are physically mailing the form, please also notify both email addresses of the form being mailed; our national office is no longer permanently staffed.
